Minimalist interiors are made possible with good storage options. How do you want to organize your weekly/monthly rotation of clothes for the season?
Too little compartments and it’s a waste of space. Too much going on, and it looks cluttered. It’s a delicate balance.
This is when you also want to think about the overall aesthetic and color palette you want in the room.
For example, this wooden dresser is lovely and fits well with either muted greens or classic creams.
When the right furniture is picked out with a clear idea of what goes in it, it’s much easier to maintain your clean space–because you don’t have to constantly think about where things should go.
This would work well with a TV, but you’ll probably need more storage than this.
The Ellington collection is lovely because you can maintain a sense of cohesiveness throughout your room even as you add more furniture.
In a closet, out of view, you can ramp up on storage space with these higher drawers. These also work well in nurseries or spare rooms–pretty much anywhere. (Can you tell I’m a fan?)
Ok, so dressers will take care of a lot of your tops, pants, and undergarments. What about coats and outerwear? These bulky, often long items? What kind of furniture would be good for organizing these?
I’m still looking for fluted wardrobes/armoires. Until then, I think organization systems like this one from Ikea are great options, especially if they fit within your closet space or those awkward pockets of space you find from time to time.
I did see this wooden organizer from Ikea that could be a possible fit. I’m not sure if the wood would match with the Ellington collection. Depending on your room/home setup, it could still work and add a beautiful, clean statement to your home.
Once you get these beautiful items set up, it’s time to maximize the space within them! You can create mini compartments with these organizers from Ikea. This will help maintain a sense of order and prevent clothes from getting mixed up. If everything has its place, then laundry can become more of a therapeutic habit than a stressful activity.
